Ghad Almajid

Born 1997, Tunisia

Ghad Al Majid is a Tunis-based artist whose work is characterized by bright colors and bold compositions. Ghad's work features archetypal figures and symbolism, most notably the cat, whose presence dominates both the physical, virtual and mythical landscapes, harnessing their ubiquitous stance to shed light on pressing issues such as climate change and overconsumption. Central to Ghad's practice is the concept of "QT: Queer Time",inviting viewers to contemplate alternative perspectives and ways of doing. Through a process of trial and error, Ghad experiments with both spontaneous and precise gestures, research- ing ways to make the object perform. Their approach emerges from personal introspection to engage with broader socio-political discourse, offering a whimsical yet in depth commentary on the complexities of contemporary existence. Through these various androgynous figures and fantastical world of cats, Ghad challenges traditional modes of discourse and invites audiences to engage with complex issues in an imaginative and playful way.
